The PARIO Plus soil particle size automatic analyzer has been further improved on the basis of PARIO, with significant improvements in measurement accuracy and efficiency.
The revolutionary soil particle size analysis equipment PARIO developed by METER was launched in 2017. Compared with the traditional particle size analysis method PARIO, it shows an absolute advantage. The traditional hydrometer method (or straw method) takes 24 hours to manually operate, which is time-consuming, labor-intensive, and prone to errors. The laser particle size analyzer method is expensive, time-consuming, and has methodological deviations. After setting up PARIO Plus, the entire process will be automatically measured, and only the valve needs to be manually opened at the end of the measurement.
The measurement time has been shortened to only 2.5 hours, with an estimation error as low as ± 0.5%. PARIO Plus frees scientists' hands from complex experiments and allows them to fully devote themselves to the study of scientific problems.
measuring principle
Calculate the particle size distribution based on Stokes' law, with a measurement range of 63~2 μ m. The measurement method of PARIO is based on mature hydrometer or straw methods, using pressure sensors to continuously record pressure and temperature changes at specific locations in soil suspension at 10 second intervals, to obtain a complete soil particle size distribution curve. PARIO Plus uses the more precise "Extended Integral Suspension Pressure Method" (ISP+) (Durner et al., 2017). In addition, PARIO based on Stokes' law does not require transfer function correction of soil properties, while almost any other automatic measurement method requires such correction, such as laser diffraction or image analysis.
main features
Fast measurement speedAfter setting up, the instrument only needs 2.5 hours to run.
Accurate measurement methodThe estimation error is as low as ± 0.5%, which is lower than any traditional particle size analysis method.
Automatic independent operationPARIO allows for unmanned and automated operation, with only manual valve opening required at the end of the experiment. Avoid manual reading and calculation errors.
Obtain high-precision continuous particle size distribution curveUnlike traditional methods that measure a few discrete time points, PARIO performs automatic measurements every 10 seconds and continuously records the pressure and temperature changes of the suspension.
Measurement process without disturbanceNo need to insert a hydrometer or use a pipette for sampling the suspension, thereby reducing disturbance to settling.
According to classical principlesCalculate particle size distribution according to Stokes' law, perfectly matching the traditional experimental preparation workflow.
The clay content is directly measured and obtained.
Automatically calculate particle size distribution based on temperature synthesis.
Easy to use integrationIn order to save you more time, PARIO has adopted a user-friendly integrated software solution that easily enables data queries, visualization operations, data calculations, and exports.
